Program Overview

The PIMS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course is designed for healthcare professionals involved in managing cardiopulmonary arrest and other serious cardiovascular emergencies. The programme builds on Basic Life Support knowledge and focuses on coordinated clinical response, airway management, cardiac rhythms, electrical therapies and post-cardiac-arrest care.

Learners develop knowledge of cardiovascular emergency algorithms, resuscitation-team dynamics and communication required during complex and high-risk clinical situations.

Assessment & Evaluation

The PIMS ACLS assessment consists of two principal components:

  1. Written Examination
    • Multiple-choice questions covering course topics.
    • Assessment of algorithms, pharmacology and clinical scenarios.
  2. Practical Skills Assessment
    • Demonstration of BLS and ACLS skills.
    • Simulated clinical scenarios requiring application of ACLS protocols.
    • Evaluation of airway management, electrical therapies and team leadership.

Successful completion of both the written and practical assessment components is required to complete the programme.
